Back at it!

New Year, New Beginnings, blah blah . . .either way, I've resolved to get back on top of posting! Wether it's my own stuff, or things that inspire and appeal to me.

So! With that being said, another little bit of "show and tell" if you will . . . FOOD! The making, baking, cooking, styling, photographing of (and EATING!). I love it all! And offer this as another service/skill if you will.

How often has any and every designer heard that?!?
"It must be nice to get to draw for a living . . "
Riiiight, that's it, I "draw" - for a living. 

I also know a thing or two about typography, art history, layout, print process, nutritional labelling standards . . . 

But yes, I do draw. And when I get the chance, I thoroughly enjoy it so thought I would share a few pieces I've done over the years.

Every artist has their own style(s) of illustrating/drawing and that's what makes us unique! It's an important thing to consider when looking for something with that "hand drawn" feel, or how it will suit the project and final applications.

Storage by Design

The Self Storage industry is an interesting one to say the least. And very much a booming business.

The shows you see on television at the moment are American based, and only give a glimpse of what lies behind those gates and locks.

Recently, the Outdoor Life Network began filming a Canadian version, and we were involved in helping with the promotion of it!

Should you be interested, the filming of the auctions are open to the public at ZoomZoom Storage in Markham beginning at 10am tomorrow, June 14th.

And should you happen to stop by, take a look inside while you're there. The management company that oversees the facility has taken the Self Storage business to a whole new level of client services by offering retail items and a welcoming interior design to what has previously been just endless hallways of steel doors. Just goes to show that good design is applicable, and makes a difference almost everywhere, even where you least expect!

Starting somewhere . . .

"And so it begins!" This blog anyways. New beginnings seem to be happening for me all over the place in my life. Exciting! And also scary, overwhelming, interesting, confusing, amazing, and everything in between.

I never wanted to, and promise I won't be the write a novel type blogger, explaining my day, meals, etc. Heck, I'll be lucky to get through short posts without typos. But I wanted somewhere to mainly focus on my creative side, and what I'm doing with it, on my own terms (now!)

So, with that comes LightHouse - design • marketing • web.  A fledgling business and life, based on years of experience in various design, media, and business arenas.

The logo inspiration and palette came from a love of the east coast and everything about it.

And the plan is to operate the business with the same sense of calm and charm you find out that way.

Here goes nothing, well, SOMETHING! :)
